Understanding FERS Retirement

FERS Basic Benefit Formula

1% × High-3 × Years of Service
Or 1.1% if age 62+ with 20+ years

Example: 1% × $100,000 × 30 years = $30,000/year

Retirement Eligibility

MRA + 30: Minimum Retirement Age with 30 years
Age 60 + 20: Age 60 with 20 years
Age 62 + 5: Age 62 with 5 years
MRA + 10: Reduced benefit (5%/year before 62)
